OAK BROOK DEFEATS JAMAICA TO WINTHE DRAKE CHALLENGE CUP

On Sunday, August 6th, Oak Brook Polo Club gave a warm and “kettle drums” welcome to the Kingston Polo Club from Jamaica as they prepared to compete for one of Oak Brook’s oldest (since 1964) and most celebrate trophies –The Drake Challenge Cup.  While the match kicked off the start to the “International Polo Series,” it was also the 55th year of Jamaican Independence Day.The Jamaican team was comprised of Marc Melville (captain -Hcap 2) and players included Jose Laritirigoyen (Hcap 5), Charles Chambers (Hcap 1) and Chris Vangel (Hcap 2 – local and honorary Jamaican). The Oak Brook Team was led by Pamela Flanagan (Hcap 0- substituting for team patron and captain Jim Drury) and included Horacio Onetto (Hcap 4), Tomas Obregon (Hcap 4) and Mariano Gutierrez (Hcap 4).
