Gay Polo Finals Come to a Fabulous End in Argentina

The first international Gay Polo League (GPL) tournament outside North America came to an end with the finals at Bautista Heguy's Chapa Uno Polo Club in General Rodriguez, Argentina. Three teams, made up of polo professionals and LGBT players, fought to become GPL Argentina champions. PMG continued their winning streak, beating RSM 3 goals to 2 and Cedar Crest 2-1.

Villa del Lago Advances to
Herbie Pennell Final at IPC

Villa del Lago took a 12-10 win over Mt. Brilliant in the 2017 season opener at the International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) on Thursday, Dec. 29. Villa del Lago will face off against Postage Stamp Sunday, Jan. 1, in the finals of the 20-goal Herbie Pennell Cup.

The USPA released an in depth club profile and interview with new owner, Mark Bellissimo. Bellissimo is looking forward to a "learning experience" in 2017" but states that their goal is to return polo to the center point for high-goal polo but also to create an entrance to the sport for newcomers who are interested in picking up a mallet for the first time.

FIP Zone A Playoffs Awarded to the United States Polo Association®

The USPA announce that the Federation of International Polo (FIP) has awarded the World Championships Zone A Qualifying Tournament (FIP Zone A Playoffs) to the USPA. The tournament will be played April 22-30, 2017 in South Florida. The United States Polo Association in conjunction with Port Mayaca Polo Club and the International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) will co-host the tournament.

Flexjet Wins First World Snow
Polo Championship Title

Flexjet knocked off defending champion U.S. Polo Assn. to capture the World Snow Polo Championship for the first time Sundayat Rio Grande Park. In front of an overflow crowd including a sold out VIP tent and worldwide ChukkerTV audience, Flexjet, led by two first-time snow polo players, defeated U.S. Polo Assn., 7-4, to win the coveted trophy.

Teams And Fixtures Set For The Dominican High Goal Season

The 2017 edition of Polo Challenge, which kicks off on January 12 in the Dominican Republic, was officially presented at Palermo. The series will be played at Lechuza Caracas RD and Casa de Campo. Lechuza also took the opportunity to present its plans for the next four international seasons.

American Bred Best Playing Ponies in Hurlingham and Argentine Open

This is the second year that The Asociación Argentina de Criadores de Caballos de Polo has honored an American-bred horse in the Argentine Open Polo Championship, and the first year that an American-bred horse was honored at the Hurlingham Open. Carla, owned and ridden by Adolfo Cambiaso was awarded Best Playing American Bred Pony in the Argentine Open and Lucky, ridden by Pelon Sterling and owned by Adolfo Cambiaso was awarded Best Playing American Bred Pony in the Hurlingham Open.

United States Polo Association® and ChukkerTV Enter a Three-Year Agreement

The USPA has entered a three-year partnership with ChukkerTV to be the livestream provider for the USPA Polo Network on uspolo.org. The USPA will livestream approximately 140 games in 2017 including, but not limited to, the 113th U.S. Open Polo Championship® and all Florida high-goal tournaments.

Eight Teams Draw Positions for 2017 Joe Barry Cup

A pre-holiday gathering of high-goal players and patrons attended a festive draw party Dec. 23 for the 2017 Joe Barry Memorial Cup 20-goal tournament. The tournament opens Wednesday, Jan. 4 and the final is Sunday, Jan. 22.
